SAN DANIELE DEL FRIULI
SAN DANIELE DEL FRIULI
San Daniele del Friuli, in the province of Udine, is one of the best-known municipalities in the Friuli Collinare area. In an hour and a quarter by car (68 km) you can visit the famous ham factories and taste the homonymous sweet PDO raw ham, to which the Aria di Festa event is also dedicated (http://www.ariadifriuliveneziagiulia.it). It is held every year at the end of June. Further information on the consortium website (www.prosciuttosandaniele.it).
Among the cultural attractions of greatest interest is certainly the Guarneriana Library: founded in the second half of the 15th century, it preserves some precious illuminated works. Furthermore, do not miss a visit to the monumental Cathedral of San Daniele, dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo, and to the Church of San’Antonio Abate, probably built around 1300, inside which it is possible to admire the frescoes by Pellegrino da San Daniele .
